Endless Surf wave pool to be built in Munich, Germany

Although there are areas facing the Baltic Sea and the North Sea, you can't expect waves, so Germany in Europe can be said to be on par with landlocked countries in the surf scene.

However, Munich, the capital city, has a surfing community, and the reason for this is the popularity of river surfing on the Eisbach.

Specifically, there are roughly 2.5 million people who constantly surf in Germany, and it seems that they are surfing overseas in search of waves.

In Munich, Germany, the story of a modern wave pool construction plan has become public, and it is said that construction approval has already been obtained from the government.

Usually, a press release of the construction plan will be announced before the approval is granted, so the flow until the general opening will proceed more quickly than before.

The name of the wave pool to be constructed is "SURFTOWN® MUC", and it is said that it will use Whitewater's wave generator "Endless Surf".

The planned construction site is Lilienter Gitrace 12 in Hallbergmoos, near Munich International Airport, at the following locations.

Endless Surf powered wave in Munich, Germany Pool to be built

Since the approval has already been granted, construction is scheduled to start this fall, and the facility is scheduled to open in 2023.

The feature of endless surf is that it can generate artificial waves that can ride up to 180 meters every 10 seconds.

Surf Town Muke, which is equipped with endless surf, is a 20,000 square meter artificial surfing facility, and the entire facility system is carbon neutral (the amount of carbon dioxide emitted and absorbed is the same).

All electricity will come from renewable sources, 80% of which will come from the facility's own solar power system.

If you are a surfer, I think there are many people who have a sustainable way of thinking and want to leave the ocean to the next generation, so I think it would be nice if the facility where you play is also sustainable.

By the way, Endless Surf suddenly jumped out into the wave pool scene in 2020 last year, and this time, they are planning to build a sixth wave pool.

Since there is no wave pool equipped with endless surf that has been opened yet, it is one of the wave generators that I would like to check the actual operation at full scale as soon as possible.
